It controls the frequency and amount of vapor that enters the engine and undergoes the combustion process.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Where_is_the_EVAP_purge_valve_located\"><\/span>Where is the EVAP purge valve located?<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>The purge solenoid is located within the engine bay of the vehicle. The valve is connected to a hose that is linked to the fuel intake. The testing process is aimed at measuring the resistance between the terminals.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Tools and equipment needed<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>You will require a <a target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\" href=\"https:\/\/www.toolsguides.com\/what-is-a-multimeter\/\">multimeter<\/a> with adapter cables.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 1: Find the Purge Valve<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Make sure the engine is switched off and cooled down.<\/li><li>Find the purge valve. It will most likely be located either behind or on top of the muffler, within the EVAP canister.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 2: Disconnect the Harness Connecter and Connect the Multimeter<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>You will see a 2-pin harness connector that is attached to the valve terminals.<\/li><li>Disconnect this 2-pin harness connector.<\/li><li>Connect the multimeter&#8217;s adapter cables.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Step 3: Test Resistance of the Terminals<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>The multimeter will give you a reading.
